ABSTRACT
SARS-CoV-2-related pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V(short_3UTR) is highly attenuated, but can cause mortality in a specifically designed human ACE2-transgenic mouse model, making it an invaluable surrogate model for evaluating the efficacy of drugs and vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.

The title, abstract and discussion parts were fundamentally updated. The previous manuscript may mislead readers to believe that the attenuated pangolin coronavirus GX_P2V(short_3UTR) posed a spillover risk to human brains, resulting in a 100% mortality rate, which sparked panic among the public. In this revision, we revised the manuscript to state the fact that these animal outcomes cannot be applicable to humans, but this infection model is invaluable for evaluating the efficacy of drugs and vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.
