Prediction of drug-induced mitochondrial dysfunction using succinate-cytochrome c reductase activity, QSAR and molecular docking
2023, ToxicologyCitation Excerpt :In drug discovery, techniques like QSAR, molecular docking and toxicophore models have been successfully used to predict cytotoxicity and specific organ toxicities (Ford et al., 2017; Singh et al., 2016; Frid and Matthews, 2010; Beck et al., 2015). These predictive methods have increasingly become a key part of the AOP approach, which emerged to establish a mechanistic link between an upstream molecular initiating event (MIE) and a downstream adverse effect through a series of events (Ankley et al., 2010; Vinken, 2013; Landesmann et al., 2013). Of paramount importance in AOPs, and in the predictive toxicology discipline in general, is the various aspects of mitochondrial toxicity.
