Morphogenesis of the human preimplantation embryo: bringing mechanics to the clinics
2021, Seminars in Cell and Developmental BiologyMultiscale morphogenesis of the mouse blastocyst by actomyosin contractility
2020, Current Opinion in Cell BiologyCitation Excerpt :Additionally to the apical domain, cell–cell contacts also downregulate contractions (Figure 2). Originally discovered in the compacting mouse embryo [63], the cell–cell adhesion molecule E-cadherin (or Cdh1) signals to reduce contractility locally at contacts between cells [25,64,65] as well as globally [23]. The control of contractility by cadherins can be mediated via regulators of the small GTPase Rho, which are recruited by p120-catenin, a core component of adherens junctions [66,67].
Trophectoderm regeneration to support full-term development in the inner cell mass isolated from bovine blastocyst
2019, Journal of Biological ChemistryCitation Excerpt :The blastomeres allocated to different positions are restricted to specific developmental fates. As blastomere allocation with cleavages proceeds, polarization begins (3, 4). The outer blastomeres retain the polarized apical features, whereas the inner ones become morphologically apolar.
