Highlights
► Epicardial derived cells (EPDCs) migrate into the myocardium during zebrafish heart regeneration. ► EPDCs give rise to fibroblasts during regeneration. ► Undetectable contribution of EPDCs to newly-formed cardiomyocytes. ► EPDCs express factors promoting myocardial proliferation and neoangiogenesis.
